The strong summer cold front has pushed all the way to the Gulf Coast, so millions are feeling relief from the typical August heat and humidity. Dozens of records will be in jeopardy Tuesday through Thursday. Temperatures will remain below average for the eastern two-thirds of the country through the upcoming Labor Day Weekend.

A significant cold air mass is moving through the eastern United States, bringing cooler temperatures to regions including the Gulf Coast, New England, and the Southern Appalachians. Some areas may see record low maximum temperatures and morning lows, with cities such as Tupelo and Wichita Falls potentially setting new records. 

Daytime highs are expected to remain in the 70s and 80s, while nighttime temperatures could drop into the 40s and 50s in several locations. The cooler trend is expected to persist, providing relief from the typical August heat and humidity.

And we haven't seen the coolest air come through Boston and the East Coast yet. That'll be more tomorrow morning, but it's been lovely up there. They've had two or three cold air masses this August. It has not been super hot at all, maybe a couple of days. By the way, with this cold air mass, it's only gonna get up so warm today. So these kind of temperatures could set what we call record low maximum temperatures or high temperatures for the day. So you would have to be colder, right? So we would set it in Tupelo if that was in fact the temperature, as we would in Wichita Falls. And the others are gonna be close. And certainly, that's something to keep an eye on. Everybody okay over there? All right, that's good. I don't want anybody dropping anything big on their toes this early in the morning. We got a four hour show to do here. So notice again, 70s and 80s, still a very strong August sun. And tonight, we obviously dropped down again. North Georgia, Southern Appalachia, all the way into New England, Boston there at 58. And yes, more 40s, but we start to see the air modify back into Minnesota a little bit as we get into the southerly winds. So again, tomorrow morning, maybe record low temperatures. Not record low maximums, but record lows for the morning. And so now we want the cooler temperature on this side. So 48 as we go to Springfield, Illinois, 47 Toledo, 43 at Fort Wayne. I mean, this is just beautiful. I just gotta be honest with you. And tomorrow, we get back up into the 70s and 80s, low humidity. Just absolutely beautiful. And then Thursday morning, we're back at it.
