The U.S. government and Boeing previously reached an agreement for the company to pay $1 billion in fines, compensation, and implement safety measures in exchange for dismissing the charges. Families argue that Boeing should be held to a high standard and not be allowed to avoid accountability through financial settlements.

So it's tough love for a company that we want to survive and we want to do well and it's not doing well by cutting corners and killing people. U.S. prosecutors have charged Boeing with conspiracy to commit fraud in connection with two crashes that killed 346 people. We have to say to corporations, you have to follow the law. You can't be above the law just because you have money. You can't pay off family members. You can't pay money to make this go away. The U.S. government and Boeing reached an agreement in May to dismiss charges in exchange for the company to pay $1 billion in fines, compensation, and safety measures.
