The shooter brought a significant amount of ammunition, and evidence suggests a disturbing interest in previous mass shootings. 

Families of the victims, including those of 10-year-old Harper Moisky and 8-year-old Fletcher Merkel, have spoken out about their loss and hopes for healing. Community leaders and officials are calling for bipartisan action to address gun violence, emphasizing the need for meaningful change to prevent future tragedies.

We need to do a whole lot more, and we need to do it on a bipartisan basis. I invite Republican legislators and attorney generals to take these gun deaths seriously. I believe we can preserve the Second Amendment and stop these gun deaths. And I want to bring in CBS News correspondent Usher Qureshi, who joins us live from Minneapolis. Usher, good morning. Have we learned anything new from the investigation? Good morning, Michael. Well, we knew a shotgun rifle and pistol were recovered at the scene, but now we're getting a sense of just how many shots were fired. Minneapolis's police chief said they recovered three shotgun shells, 116 rifle rounds and a live handgun round that they believe jammed in the chamber. Now, authorities call the amount of ammunition a clear sign that the shooter came prepared for mass casualties. Investigators collected hundreds of pieces of evidence, including electronic devices that still need to be searched. Authorities say the shooter left behind disturbing writings and a deranged fascination with past mass shootings. Investigators say they believe part of the purpose was to gain notoriety, and they're stressing that the investigation is far from over and may not provide the clear answers the public is hoping for But the search for a specific motive continues, Michael and Usher. Yesterday, for the first time, we heard from some of the families of the victims. Pretty heartbreaking. What did they say? Yeah, tough stuff there, Michael. I mean, both 10 year old Harper Moisky and eight year old Fletcher Merkel were killed in this shooting. Fletcher's father talked about never being allowed to hold him, talk to him or watch him grow up. Jesse Merkel also expressed his grief for the entire community. Take a listen to what you have to say. While the hole in our hearts and lives will never be filled, I hope that in time our family can find healing. I pray that the other victims family can find some semblance of the same. I'm hopeful that all the wounded are able to make a full recovery and return home to their families.
