The plan also involves the immediate suspension of approximately $38 million in bilateral EU funds and continued support for the Palestinian Authority. The Council will decide on the measures by qualified majority, with the European Parliament being informed. Israel disputes claims of starvation in Gaza and maintains that sufficient humanitarian aid is allowed in.

This announcement comes as thousands of Palestinians continue to flee amid escalating military action with Israeli tanks, drones and troops advancing deeper into the coastal enclave that has endured nearly two years of warfare. We regret having to take this step. However, we believe it is both appropriate and proportionate given the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The Council will decide on this measure by qualified majority while the European Parliament will be duly informed. Roughly $38 million in bilateral funds controlled by the EU will immediately be suspended. The Commission also gives support to the Palestinian Authority. Israel denies there is starvation in Gaza and says it allows in enough humanitarian aid.
