I'm aware that I have a hand in all the stuff that's going on now. I'm aware that my movies pioneered stuff and opened up some doors. But I don't sit around tripping about it. You see stereotypes every now and then. You would see them in the 70s and stuff but people don't do stereotypical stuff. Think about the last 20 years. Who wants to even see a movie with some stereotypical characters? What's the shit they always talk about keep it real? 25 years of keeping it real and being real and all that. You really see that's reflected in the movies. The characters are trying to be reflective of people in society. The stereotype shit, especially some stereotype shit that's successful, that's gone. I ain't seen no shit that's stereotypical that was successful since the 70s. Murphy's influence is evident with co-star KK Palmer and other young black actors achieving success in Hollywood today. The pickup is set to premiere on August 6th on Amazon Prime Video.
