Kabila is facing the high military court on charges of crimes against peace, specifically being accused of acting as an accomplice to the M23 armed group, which launched a military offensive in eastern Congo earlier in the year. The conflict ceased following a peace agreement between the DRC and Rwanda, which had supported the group. Kabila, who has been living in exile for the past two years, is not expected to be present at the trial.
