There's been a lot of damage done, this resident says, the worst he's seen in years. In Sri Lanka, the rain has stopped but the danger and misery continue. President Anira Kumari Dizanaiki says this is the worst natural disaster the island has seen. And he says recovery will take some time with lives still at risk. Flood levels are rising, says this official, as he urges residents to evacuate their homes to safety. Many are unable, stranded, waiting for help as soldiers drop supplies and attempt rescues. With the climate change, the global warming specifically, the warmer atmosphere can hold more moisture. So when it rains, it has much more moisture so it rains very heavily. While on average the rain in monsoon season hasn't increased, what's changed is the intensity.
