AccuWeather's Geoff Cornish says freezing weather will grip Florida from Thursday into Friday this week. Temperatures will dip 15-20 degrees below historical averages for many parts of the state.

A strong cold front is forecast to move into Florida, bringing freezing temperatures, particularly from Thursday night into early Friday morning. Areas such as Jacksonville are expected to see lows in the mid to upper twenties, while Tampa and St. Petersburg will experience temperatures in the upper thirties, and inland central Florida will face a true freeze.

This cold spell will result in temperatures 15 to 25 degrees lower than earlier in the week and will persist through the weekend. Most of the Southeast, including Florida, is expected to experience below normal temperatures for the better part of the next ten days.

Another Florida freeze is headed to the sunshine state, especially Thursday night into early Friday morning. This may be cold enough for a few iguanas to drop in south florida yet again. Initially thursday, we're gonna see a pretty good blast of cold overspread the interior southeast with temperatures that will be falling about 15 to 25 degrees lower than they were earlier in the week. The cold settles into florida on thursday night, plowing south and areas like Jacksonville will drop into the mid to upper twenties. Places like Tampa will stay a little bit above freezing, but still upper thirties in Tampa or ST Petersburg. That's very nippy. There will be a true freeze in inland portions of central florida away from the ocean. As we move deeper into the weekend, it's going to stay colder than historical averages and really the better part of the next 10 days will feature below normal temperatures across most of the southeast.
