Donald Trump made an appearance, greeting delegates shortly after announcing Ohio Senator J.D. Vance as his vice-presidential candidate. Trump's agenda, according to his supporters, includes reforms such as bail reform and stricter crime policies to ensure the safety of communities across the country.

The convention also featured an effort to show consolidated support for Trump, with former primary rival Nikki Haley scheduled to speak. Haley, who had initially refrained from endorsing Trump following a heated primary, is expected to display unity at the convention.

In response, the Biden campaign criticized Trump's selection of Vance, suggesting it indicates the GOP's adherence to what they describe as an extreme MAGA agenda. The Republican convention's theme for today is "Make America Safe Once Again," focusing on public safety and crime control.

Donald Trump wants our community and our world and our national, you know, whole country safe. And the RNC is making a big push to show support for Trump with former rival Nikki Haley recently scheduled to speak today. He's expected to bury the hatchet after a contentious primary challenge. That contest devolved into name calling at times, and Haley did not immediately endorse Trump after she dropped out. Meanwhile, the Biden campaign hitting back, claiming the Vance pick is another sign Republicans will follow a quote, extreme MAGA agenda. Donald Trump's Republican Party will always choose big, greedy, anti-union extremists over the working men and women of America.
