Hopes for a diplomatic solution are pinned on the Greenlandic and Danish foreign ministers' trip to Washington, where they will discuss Greenland's future with Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Rubio has told US lawmakers that the administration would like to purchase Greenland, rather than take it by military force, as has been discussed by the White House. Standing alongside the Danish Prime Minister at an event in Copenhagen, Greenlandic Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen made his stance known. We are now facing a geopolitical crisis, and if we have to choose between the United States and Denmark here and now, we choose Denmark. Trump rejects Nielsen's decision to choose Denmark over the US. I don't know who he is, don't know anything about him, but that's going to be a big problem for him. Trump first raised the idea of the US taking over Greenland during his first term in office and shows no sign of backing down.
