California is back to the dry status quo after pouring rain led to flash flooding in some areas on Oct. 14.

Severe storms that recently affected the western United States, especially California, have largely subsided. The storms brought record rainfall to several locations, with Burbank experiencing over two inches in a single day, breaking previous records. Flash flooding led to road closures, and there were reports of wind damage and funnel clouds, particularly south of San Jose. 

Wind gusts exceeding 70 miles per hour were recorded in parts of California, Arizona, and Nevada, with severe thunderstorm warnings issued in several areas. While some high wind and flooding concerns remain in southeastern Wyoming and southern Colorado, most of California has returned to normal conditions, with only lingering snow risks at higher elevations.

Let's talk about what we saw. Recap a little bit. Some of the worst of it. Then we'll talk about how we got to those situations. Now I will point out we're really dwindling with the storm reports. If you tuned in yesterday, you know there were so many here I couldn't. Even I couldn't talk about all of them when there was a specific one I wanted to point out it was like finding a needle in a haystack. But now we're down to three, and that's because this map only shows storm reports from the last 24 hours. So a lot of the action was really in the morning for the California area and then into the early afternoon. And I'm talking Pacific time, not eastern time. The time frames that you're seeing on these storm reports. Those are eastern time, not local time. We did have things moving further inland, but the storm reports dwindling as we got to about this time yesterday. So a couple of rock slides and this is east of Bakersfield into some of the higher elevations and then South of San Jose. That's where we had some flash flooding and some road closures as well. That was the main issue that we saw. Road closures because of flash flooding. But we did have some wind damage reports. We had a couple of funnel cloud sightings in Salinas which is South of San Jose. There was a severe thunderstorm warning that coincided with those funnel cloud sightings. Now we'll take it piece by piece. You're talking about the rain, the wind, the snow. As far as the rain, well, several of you broke records. Now these were records for the amount of rainfall specifically on October 14th, so specifically yesterday, and it's not every October 14th that we have a storm like this. I mean, it's been months since we've had a storm like this. Leading to those images in LA that you're seeing on the right hand side of your screen. So all of these previous records, they're under an inch of rainfall. And with the exception of Burbank, we had the new record under an inch as well. But Burbank really just smashed that old record two and more than 2 1⁄4 inches of rain yesterday. Alone in Burbank. Now that was just one piece of the puzzle, right? I said we had wind damage. Some of it was from these top wind reports from the last 48 hours. The last two days overall, all more than 70 miles per hour. Now these bottom two reports, Arizona and Nevada, but the rest are from California and there were a lot of severe thunderstorm warnings. This is well above the criteria for a severe thunderstorm warning. Most of these likely were warned right now, though, we'll take a look. Things have shifted further inland as we track this storm system moving north and east. So some of the stronger wind gusts, Flagstaff, Cedar City, all more than 20 mile per hour. Wind gusts 36 mph in Trinidad there. That's the trend that we're going to see. We have 17 mile per hour winds lingering in Bakersfield, but overall in California you're back to status quo. So we take a look at our alerts right now. A lot of this actually is concerning the snow, which we've seen less and less active snowfall in the last several hours, but higher elevations you do still have that risk. We have some high wind concerns, though in southeastern Wyoming and some flooding concerns in Southern Colorado, so we're going to be
