During our community conversation Tuesday, some residents from multiple neighborhoods didn't express complete confidence in the city's new curfew that starts Friday. You know, we feel like curfews don't really do the job, so we asked the mayor for clarity. How do you ensure that it's not? Punitive or it's similar to detention for these young people. That's why we did the hard work of partnering very quickly with Seven Hills, so it's so they're not being taken directly to the 2020 detention center so that it is a for lack of a better term, softer landing. This citywide curfew starts at 11 PM and goes until 5 AM for all unaccompanied minors. Under the age of 18 for the Central Business District and over the Rhine. Specifically, the curfew starts at 9 PM with some exceptions. When encountering a teenager breaking curfew first, the collaborative agreements of partners along with 311. Staff will assist to ensure the teen is complying. Then, if necessary, CPD will get involved and they are charged with first asking, telling and then commanding the young person to comply. Then when it comes to increased police patrols downtown with help from the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, there are still some questions about what role the state should play in our community conversation. Residents were under the impression that. Some that the help was totally denied from the state. Others weren't sure what help was received. Can you clarify for our viewers? We're working with the governor on using Highway Patrol aerial surveillance in order to support specifically our street crimes task force on enforcement of quality of life crimes, and we're also partnering with them on parole violations.
