A video of a fight in downtown Cincinnati has gone viral. City leaders met with residents to lay out solutions Tuesday evening, and some called for a change in leadership.

Some city council candidates criticized Mayor Aftab Pureval for not attending in person and questioned the leadership of Chief Fiji, with one candidate calling for her resignation.

City Manager Cheryl Long and Chief Fiji presented a comprehensive safety initiative called ACT, which includes drone deployment, youth support services, and special task forces. They also indicated that curfew enforcement would be a next step, though details are still being determined. Some attendees expressed confidence in the proposed measures, while others remain critical of current leadership.

It makes me sick to watch it over and over again on national news, especially police chief Teresa Fiji addressed the video for a second time at this meeting, this time towing a hard line, saying politics does not belong in law enforcement. A trio of city council candidates were critical of the mayor's absence in a moment they say demands solutions. Do you have confidence in their ability to get a handle on? Me? No, he's not here. That is not the official charter position. She's standing right there and I'll say it so she can hear it. In my view, she has lost the confidence of the city. She has lost the confidence of the business owners. She has lost the confidence of the rank and file and she should step down and be replaced by an interim chief until a new council comes in who can help select a new one. Is that your position as well? That's not my position.
