While celebrations occurred in Israel, many in Gaza remain affected by widespread destruction and loss. The United Nations has announced plans to increase humanitarian aid to Gaza, aiming to provide food, medical supplies, and shelter materials.

Let us continue in the spirit of cooperation and goodwill that has finally brought us to this incredible historic breakthrough. If we do together, we will reach the Middle East's incredible destiny. That destiny seems like a distant dream to some like Ibrahim Ahmed Abouliahil, surrounded by new total devastation in Gaza. Despite the ceasefire and reunions after the return of the Palestinian prisoners and detainees, Abouliahil says he can't feel true hope for the future. Our joy is incomplete because of those who were killed and the houses that were destroyed, he says. I'm not very optimistic about what's happening. The UN says it's ready to scale up its delivery of aid to Gaza to help alleviate some of the suffering Abouliahil and others are facing, John. It's planning to bring in food, medical supplies, and materials for shelters to help during the coming winter.
