Atanganji emphasized that only the Constitutional Council is authorized to announce official results and warned that any unauthorized declaration would be considered high treason.

Issa Chiroma Bakari, a former government spokesperson and minister, claimed victory and called for President Paul Bia to concede after the election. Bakari's campaign was supported by a coalition of opposition parties and civic groups. The Constitutional Council is expected to proclaim the official results within 15 days of the election's conclusion.

His campaign drew large crowds and backing from a coalition of opposition parties and civic groups. Bia has been in power since 1982, nearly half his lifetime, making him Cameroon's second president since independence from France in 1960. According to Cameroon Electoral Court, the results of the election will be proclaimed by the Constitutional Council within no more than 15 days of the close of the poll.
