They're launching an investigation into the punches that were thrown on the weekend and frankly I hope they throw the book at the people that started it. The rising tension has the state opposition pushing to have critical infrastructure, such as Sydney Harbour Bridge, as well as tourist hotspots like Bondi Beach, added to an already existing list of locations where protests are off limits. There has to be a line drawn in the sand. When you're looking at critical infrastructure or you're looking at tourist hotspots, they should be a no-go zone. It's not as straightforward as passing a bill this afternoon and saying that's the end of protests on Bondi Beach. That's almost certain to be knocked over by the High Court in record time. Adding to the pressure on police is the amount of protests and counter-protests being scheduled simultaneously, increasing the risk tensions could turn to violence like they did here on the weekend.
