Josh Dunkley led by example with 18 tackles, while Cam Rainer returned to form after recent criticism. Despite improvements from the Suns this season, their coach acknowledged the team still has progress to make. Injured player Lachie Neal remains hopeful of returning if the Lions reach the grand final.

He went up around the 1.9 for pressure for the first two quarters, it was 1.87, 1.88. When we bring that, we're a really good team. Josh Dunkley setting the example by laying 18 tackles. That's Josh for you, one of the great blokes to coach he is. While after copping heat for milking free kicks last week, Cam Rainer got back to what he does best. He just understands the moments and I've told him that you're a bull so be a bull. The Suns made big strides in 2025 but their three time premiership coach concedes there's still plenty of work to do. We're probably a good side, we're not a great side at the moment and that's our job as an organisation to make sure we make that jump. And while the medical report suggested he's done for the year with a calf, Lachie Neal is refusing to concede his back to back grand final dream is over.
