Former Rebels bikie Siar Munshizada has appealed his life sentence for the murder of three men, which a judge described as "coldly calculated".

Siar Munshizada, a 36-year-old former member of the Rebels motorcycle gang, is serving a life sentence with no release date after being found guilty of three murders in Sydney. The crimes, described by the sentencing judge as coldly calculated and premeditated, involved the shootings of Michael Davey, Mehmet Yilmaz, and Pasquale Barbaro between March and November.

Munshizada has appealed his convictions in the Supreme Court, with his defence arguing that his recorded admission was only partial and not a direct acceptance of responsibility. The prosecution relied on evidence that Munshizada test-fired the murder weapons prior to the killings. The appeal judges are now considering their decision.

This was a callous brazen, acts of murder in Sydney streets. All victims ambushed in the night. Munshizada was accompanied by his friend and mastermind Abuzar Sultani. Today the defence argued there was only a partial admission of guilt. In a recorded conversation, Munshizada was heard saying the only time I ever, ever did anything was that day we murdered Davey. It was argued he wasn't taking direct responsibility, using the analogy of how we is used in sport. The Crown relied on evidence Munshizada was test firing the weapons in a remote location in early 2016 as a form of target practice. The same pistols used in the murder.
