Barbadillo is a detention facility on the outskirts of Peru's capital that has become notable for holding several former presidents of the country. At one point, four former presidents—Ollanta Humala, Alejandro Toledo, Pedro Castillo, and Martin Vizcarra—were detained there, and a total of five former leaders have spent time in Barbadillo. 

The facility is not officially classified as a prison, but it imposes the same restrictions as ordinary prisons, including bans on electronic devices and limited amenities. Barbadillo has a small official capacity, with two large cells that can be adapted to hold up to four inmates, each featuring a bedroom, dining room, and garden.

This is the Barbadillo facility located on the outskirts of Peru's capital. It is no ordinary prison. Its latest inmate is a former president, as all of who have been imprisoned in Barbadillo. In total, five former presidents of Peru have spent time here. It is a place where those who once called the shorts go when the tables turn. Over time, obviously, with more presidents in preventive detention and now serving sentences, this prison has finally been expanded in terms of infrastructure, and is now almost a prison specifically for presidents, because, of course, at one point, until two weeks ago, we had four former presidents, Ollanta Omala, Alejandro Toledo, Pedro Castillo, and Martin Vizcarra, in the prison. It must be said very clearly, today it is a prison for former presidents. Barbadillo's revolving doors are held tight against public scrutiny. A lot of what happens inside it is a mystery, as the facility is not officially considered a prison. They have the same restrictions as ordinary prisoners. They cannot have a mobile phone. They cannot have a laptop. There are no electronic devices, no ordinary television. So I would say that we are very far from a golden prison. With an official capacity of two, but with potential to be adapted to hold up to four inmates, Barbadillo is made up of two 800-square-meter cells, each fitted with a bedroom, dining room and garden.
