Nelson Philip James, a 32-year-old Australian from northern New South Wales, has been arrested in Bali on charges of drug possession. The arrest followed a traffic stop in Badung, where police discovered two bags of white powder—one falling to the ground and another in his hand—during a search.

James asserts that he is innocent and claims the substance was planted by a woman who was with him at the time. Police, however, state that James has changed his explanation about the substance multiple times. He is currently facing the prospect of more than a decade in prison as the investigation continues.
