We had gone to see the blessings of God. The main door of the temple was closed. Suddenly, everyone started running and crushing each other. Small children got trampled as well. I saw some dead bodies. It happened just a few steps from the temple premises. The crowd became uncontrollable. I fell along with 10 to 12 others. I found three of my family members, but two are still missing. Many of the injured have been taken to nearby hospitals. Authorities are investigating the incident. After analyzing photographs and videos from the spot, we were able to understand that somebody started a rumor about electrocution from the wiring, and people reacted to the rumor leading to the incident. Final details will be revealed pending an investigation. The popular temple draws millions of visitors each year. This crowd crush is the latest in a series of fatal incidents in India this year, raising questions about crowd management at religious gatherings.
