Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic also participated in the panel, warning of the dangers of prioritizing national interests over multilateralism. He expressed concern about a growing divide between the United States and Europe, suggesting that such trends could have long-lasting consequences for global stability.

The presidents of Azerbaijan and Armenia came together at the year news panel at the World Economic Forum in Davos for the first time since signing a historic peace deal brokered by U.S. President Donald Trump in the White House in August. The deal brought an end to three decades of fighting in what the world hopes will be the start of a prosperous chapter for a region marred with a difficult past. President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan says peace is an active decision that leaders must continue to make to avoid prolonged conflict, which only harms everyone. We took the situation into our hands, and we did it. We restored justice, international law, our sovereignty, territorial integrity, and then we achieved peace. And then we stopped. And for the leader of the country, which suffered for 30 years, to stop at the right time is a very responsible and very important decision. We could have continued. I want to be very open with you and with the audience. But that would lead to endless wars. That would lead to more sufferings, more victims. U.S. President Van Kachaturyan echoed a similar message. The two leaders were joined by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, who says the world is headed to a dark place, and urged leaders to prioritize multilateralism over national interests. Everybody is taking care of its own national interests. Nobody cares about multilateralism, and this is the biggest mistake. It's a mistake that all of us made in the past, and now no one can correct it. This divorce between U.S. and Europe is not going to be just a temporary issue.
