An Arctic front is sweeping through Florida and the southeastern United States, bringing a significant drop in temperatures. Freeze watches and hard freeze warnings have been issued for North Florida, Southeast Georgia, and parts of Alabama, with lows expected to reach the 20s and even upper teens in some locations.

Residents are being urged to take precautions to protect vegetation and outdoor pets from the cold. Forecasts indicate temperatures as low as 23°F in Tallahassee and 26°F in Jacksonville, with even southern areas like Key West experiencing unusually chilly conditions.

So this is Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Not too shabby. I mean, I know we're in the 30s here along the I-10 corridor, but that's nothing relative to what's coming in. And notice, 50s and 60s all the way down into South Florida, we do have a freeze watch. Now, this is for Thursday evening into Friday morning for parts of North Florida and to Southeast Georgia. Our lows could be as low as 20 in the 20s. So you want to take the appropriate action, make sure any vegetation maybe is covered up outside, or if you have any pets that are outside that could be impacted from the cold. But in places like Alabama, the Big Bend of Florida, the Panhandle of Florida, South Central Georgia, Southwest Georgia, we actually have a hard freeze where our temperatures could get 20 to 25, and we could have pockets of the upper teens here. So it is going to be a very frigid Friday morning. That's when the cold air really gets in. Notice, 23 into Tallahassee, 26 into Jacksonville. 30s into Central Florida, and the 40s all the way down to South Florida. I'll tell you what, 56 in Key West is frigid.
