Greystar and the US Department of Justice have reached a deal in order to settle price-fixing claims.

Graystar, which manages millions of rental units across the United States, has agreed to settle with the Department of Justice following allegations of price-fixing. The company, along with five other rental firms, was accused of using RealPage software to share tenant data and coordinate rent prices through algorithms. As part of the settlement, Graystar will cease using anti-competitive algorithms and stop sharing private tenant information, pending court approval.

Despite the settlement, Colorado continues to pursue separate legal action against Graystar, alleging the company misled tenants about the true cost of rent by withholding information about mandatory fees until after application fees were paid. The settlement with the DOJ does not resolve these ongoing state-level claims.
