Drinking polluted water and eating animal feed. Palestinians are fighting against another weapon of Israel's war, forced starvation. The United Nations has issued repeated warnings that Gaza is heading towards famine, but displaced Palestinians trapped with nowhere to go say they are already starving. My son wakes up in the morning and asks for a loaf of bread. I answer him, there is none. We have nothing, nothing at all. All roads lead to death. If not killed by the Israeli bombardment, we will starve to death. Northern Gaza has been almost entirely cut off from life-saving aid since late October. Deliveries are dependent on security clearances from the Israeli military. Aid agencies accuse soldiers of deliberately blocking supplies. We have no clean water and are forced to drink sewage water. We pray to all of you watching us, have mercy on us. We are dying for the relief aid to be delivered in the north. Children are often worst affected. UNICEF has warned that around 335,000 under fives are at high risk of severe malnutrition and preventable death. As the impact of Israel's war worsens, some children have said they'd rather die than suffer the horrors of the war. Children who do survive this war will not only bear the visible wounds of traumatic injuries, but the invisible ones too. Stories of repeated displacement, constant fear and witnessing family members literally dismembered before their eyes. These psychological injuries have led children as young as five to tell us that they would prefer to die. Israel's unabating attacks have left Gaza unrecognisable. Streets that were once busy with bakeries and restaurants, now a distant memory for its starving population. Julie Dager, Al Jazeera.
