Both parties exchanged views on regional issues, emphasizing the importance of multilateralism and international cooperation. Following the meeting with the Pope, President Mnangagwa also met with senior Vatican officials, including Cardinal Pietro Parolin and Monseigneur Paul Richard Gallagher.

Zimbabwe has faced a significant economic downturn in recent years, characterised by hyperinflation and a devalued currency.
