The Disaster Management Authority reported that over 800 people have died nationwide in rain-related incidents since late June. Climate change has been cited as a factor intensifying this year's monsoon rains, further exacerbating the crisis.

Officials are calling it one of the worst flood emergencies in recent history, caused by heavy rainfall and the release of water from neighbouring India's overflowing dams. New Delhi alerted Islamabad last week to expect cross-water flooding but Pakistan had little time to respond to the floods. The chaos has left authorities scrambling. Now the floods have gone, are going through central Punjab and they are causing a lot of devastation there. What we are most worried about are two points. One is called Trimu, where a bunch of rivers come together, about two or three, and then Panjnath, where all five rivers come together. And that's a point where we're expecting that there may be a million cusecs of water flowing and that would cause a lot of flooding. Climate change has intensified monsoon rains this year in Pakistan. Its Disaster Management Authority said over 800 people have been killed nationwide in rain-related incidents since the end of June.

Officials from the Trump administration spent the weekend pushing back against a U.S. appeals court ruling that most tariffs against Canada were illegal. Economic adviser Peter Navarro called the decision politically motivated.
