Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky has hailed the U.S.-brokered peace deal in the Middle East, saying it, quote, brings more hope for peace in other regions. The Ukrainian leader says he'll meet with President Trump in Washington this week. CBS News foreign correspondent Rami Innocencio is keeping his eye on this and joins us from London this morning. Rami, great to see you. So what might we expect from President Zelensky's visit to Washington, and how exactly might he push for a Middle East-like breakthrough? Sure. Well, there is a lot of hope riding on this after the success that we were reporting on yesterday out of the Middle East. But Zelensky pushing, encouraging Donald Trump to basically keep going from the Israel-Hamas war to the Russia-Ukraine war. And Trump, we understand, is now pointing to Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to play a potential role. He spoke to Putin last week. Ankara relies on both Moscow and Washington for energy and trade respectively. So peace is also in Turkey's interest. Meantime, this morning, Zelensky on X said that as the war in the Middle East comes to an end, it's important not to lose that momentum for advancing peace. War in Europe can also be brought to an end. And yesterday, he said he could meet Trump in person in Washington as soon as this Friday to keep things going along. Main topics of discussion that he said would be the defense of Ukraine by air and his country's long-range capabilities to keep that pressure on Russia. And if you walk back just a day prior to that, it was only on Sunday that Donald Trump said that he might send Tomahawk missiles, long-range missiles to Kyiv. Now, those have a range of about 1,500 miles, and it's less than 500 miles from Kyiv to Moscow as the missile flies. The Kremlin spokesperson said Trump's words are of extreme concern. Former President Dmitry Medvedev said it could end badly for everyone, especially for Trump. Meantime, Zelensky said he'll also try to get more American help to protect Ukraine's energy grid. This is both electric as well as gas. The country going into another wintertime. Now is a time we know. We've been reporting for the past — this is the fourth winter going into Ukraine in the war. Russia has targeted the grid during this time. Kharkiv, Ukraine's second biggest city, again hit overnight. We've been there, and Russia tries to make it even more unbearable during this time. And update us on that last detail, Raimi. What else is happening on the Ukrainian battlefield? Because that war just rages on. Yeah, absolutely. Specifically with Kharkiv, about 30,000 people lost power overnight, just the latest here. The governor of the region said that Russia's military hit both energy facilities as well as a hospital with guided bombs. The mayor of Kharkiv City said that three bombs hit power lines, a hospital, and that four people were injured, a quote here, when about 200 windows were smashed. And it was just last week that a larger-scale Russian attack on not just the capital, Kyiv, but other cities put more than a million homes and businesses in the dark. And we should expect this ramp-up on energy facilities to continue, as they have been for the past three winters prior. All right. Important to keep our eyes on this. Raimi, thank you.
