A 36-year-old woman, Supriya Thakur, was found unconscious and later pronounced dead at her home in Northfield, Adelaide, following reports of an alleged domestic assault. Emergency services responded to the incident just after 8:30 pm, and police arrested her husband, Vikrant Thakur, at the scene.

Vikrant Thakur, aged 42, has been charged with murder and did not apply for bail during his initial court appearance. He will remain in custody until his next court date in April. Investigators have continued to collect evidence and speak with neighbours as the community mourns the loss of Supriya Thakur.

A quiet suburban street in Adelaide's north becomes a crime scene. I was just sitting on the couch and heard sirens. Definitely it's not something like what we expected or maybe what we think. We saw nothing, we heard nothing, we didn't hear screaming, we didn't hear yelling. Emergency services swarming a home on West Avenue in Northfield after reports of an alleged domestic assault just after 8.30 last night. My mum heard him on the phone. Officers entered the property to find 36-year-old Supriya Thakur unconscious inside. Despite frantic efforts to save her, the enrolled nurse died at the scene. I told her I loved her. I'm really grateful that I didn't because I didn't love her. She was my good friend. Just moments later, police made an arrest. Her husband, 42-year-old Vikrant Thakur, was charged with murder. Thakur didn't apply for bail during his first appearance here at the Adelaide Magistrates Court. He'll remain behind bars for Christmas until his next appearance in April. Investigators returned to the scene this morning, bagging evidence and trying to piece together exactly what happened. Detectives doorknocked surrounding homes and spoke with neighbours. So three days out before Christmas, it's pretty heartbreaking. She should be best remembered for her kind and caring nature, her generosity in her time, her loyalty as a friend, as a mother.
