The storm is being intensified by a low-pressure system and a Norlund instability trough, leading to enhanced snowfall in certain areas. Cities such as Boston, Manchester, and Albany are expected to see general snow, while the I-95 corridor is forecasted to remain mostly snow free.

But what this allows to happen is you're converging the air with this little trough. So you can actually get some enhanced snowfall. And we can get some pretty heavy snowfall with that. It's called a Norlund instability trough. Don't ask me why he named it that, but it was my roommate from college. That's his baby. Either way you slice it, you see the bonus? Right there. That's the Norlund in action for you. Boston, Manchester, back through Albany again, general snow. Notice the I-95 is pretty snow free down and through here.
