The series follows a group of recent high school graduates who form a rock band the summer after graduation in hopes of making it big. Actor Will Lipton plays the band's singer and guitarist, Charlie. Hey, Charlie, you good? I'm better than you. No, I'm perfect. Sophia obviously saw the post that we're playing tonight. That's why she showed up. Couldn't it have also been that George just asked her to the fair? No, dude, she likes me. I can tell. We have connections. There's one thing I learned about Sophia reading her journal is that she's into grand gestures of the heart. You read her journal? Poetry journal. No way, dude. And yes, cover to cover. And yes, I knew it was probably not the greatest thing to do. No, bro. But I understand her better for it. I warned him. Look, I'm telling you, she's going to love hearing her poem immortalized in a kick-ass rock song sung by me. Wait, Charlie, hang on. Those aren't her lyrics in the new song. We can't play that song, bro. You stole her words. Whoa, you guys said you loved it. Yeah, I do, but I didn't know she was going to be here to hear it. It's a grand gesture, guys, all right? We got this. Grand gesture, boys. Literally, grand gestures at that age never good. Will Lipton joins us now. Thanks so much for being on set with us. Gosh, thank you so much for having me. This is amazing to be here. Well, it's amazing to have you here. So talk to us about your character, Charlie. You know, we described it a little bit, but it's end of graduation. You're going off into this big, grand adventure. What can we expect? I mean, Charlie, he is a dreamer at his core, but he's also very young. So he's got a lot of stuff to kind of sort out and learn along the way during the senior summer before real life starts. I think that he's very passionate about things, but sometimes lacks a bit of logic when it comes to approaching some of the issues he faces. So it gets himself into a little bit of trouble along the way. But he's all heart and his intentions are pure. Now, follows the band, name the runarounds, but it was actually created, the band originally, for the other series, Outer Banks, which I know is also quite popular. I haven't seen it, but I know. We need to get you to watch more TV. Yeah, well, if only there was time. It's a good one. But you became a real life band. Yeah. So you're putting together this series. You're a real band. How does that, how do those dynamics play off each other? Yeah, I mean, originally the show was always kind of the plan. We got reached out to do kind of like a cameo. We weren't exactly sure what we were auditioning for, but we got cast and started doing the band thing even before we showed up on Outer Banks. That was kind of like a really good learning experience because it was a lot of the same crew that worked on our show, just like the Carolina folks that are so amazing in that scene. But yeah, we would just play as many gigs as we could. We were in the studio writing and recording songs that we could use for the show. There was like a whole saga that happened of just history with this project before the show even filmed. It's pretty nuts. And I saw you pumping your fist as we started saying, today is the premiere day. I mean, it's been a three year process. Five year. Five year. I was 17 when I was casted for this. Yeah. I'm 22 now. So to hit today then, how does that even, I can't imagine what that must feel like. You know, I was writing a little letter to myself last night to maybe to reflect and read. And I don't know, this is just so insane. This is a dream project for myself and the rest of the cast. And the amount of faith that was put in through just like the creators, the cast, the amazing crew, all the people at Amazon and Skydance, it just feels so amazing to be a part of an incredible group of people just all under the same common cause of making this amazing thing. Yeah. When I was watching the series, it really resonated with me, even though I am well past my teen years, because there is just this thing that everyone can relate to, going after your dream, having that confidence in yourself. And there was a line that stood out to me, it comes back a lot, that if you have a plan B, you don't have a plan A. Yeah. Did you have a plan B, or was this just always the dream? I think when I was younger, the fact that I'm sitting here talking with you all today is pretty unreal. I think there was definitely moments of doubt that I've had in my career. But it's a team effort. You have people that have faith in you. I had my amazing family that always believed in me in times where I didn't believe in myself. So maybe there were times where I thought maybe I'd be like a doctor or something, but I didn't. You played one on General Hospital. Well, I wasn't quite a doctor. My mom was a nurse on General Hospital, but I was in a few hospital scenes, so I got that experience there. Doctor adjacent. Yeah, doctor adjacent. Real quick, because I bet there are fans wondering, since this was birthed out of Outer Banks, you're doing your thing now. Should we anticipate crossover episodes or any marrying of the storylines? I've been kind of like seeing it. I've coined the term the PCU, the Pate Cinematic Universe. Jonas and Josh, who are the creators of Outer Banks, and Jonas, who worked on our show. It would be kind of funny. I think maybe that runaround exists in a different scenario where they live in Charleston or something. But the Outer Banks kids are the coolest folk ever.
