The White House has clarified that partial Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) funds will be released in accordance with a court order, following President Trump's statement that benefits would only be distributed once the government is fully funded. Press secretary Caroline Leavitt stated that the administration will comply with the court's directive and that Trump's comments referred to future funding decisions. 

A court hearing is scheduled, with several states seeking to secure the remaining $9 billion needed for full SNAP funding. The Department of Agriculture has issued guidance to states on distributing the court-ordered payments, but the process is expected to take some time.

Let's talk about something else to see if the White House has clarified on it, federal food assistance. President Trump had posted on True Social saying SNAP benefits will only be given once the government is funded. So does that mean those partial payments that the court ordered released from a contingency fund, where does this all stand? According to the White House and that press secretary, Caroline Leavitt, who just had that briefing earlier this afternoon, it is a partial SNAP fund that will be released as a result of that court order. She said that the administration will comply with that court order and what President Trump is saying in that True Social post is in regards to future funding and future funds for SNAP benefits and food stamps. Now, we know that President Trump has been critical of SNAP benefits and food stamps as a whole in the past, though we will be watching for Thursday when there is a court hearing that is from several states who is trying to push this administration to fully fund the $9 billion needed for the remaining SNAP funding. Erin Navarro, thank you. At the White House today, press secretary Caroline Leavitt said the Trump administration is abiding by those court orders on SNAP and continue to blame Democrats for any delay in food assistance. The president does not want to have to tap into this fund in the future, and that's what he was referring to in his True Social post. The Department of Agriculture, as for the latest SNAP payment in the judge's order, put out guidance to states today on how to get that money to the recipients of SNAP, but it's going to take some time.
