And its reach keeps growing. 2025 saw a 15% increase in licenses compared to 2024. More than half of EU Ecolabel license holders are small and medium enterprises. Italy leads the EU with almost 19,000 certified products, followed by Spain, France and Germany. The largest certified sector is paints and varnishes, representing more than 38,000 certifications, or about one-third of all Ecolabel products. Next comes tissue papers and products, followed by cleaning items. Tourism is also on the rise, with around 900 establishments now meeting Ecolabel standards. And the list of eligible sectors continues to grow, even extending to pet care products after a dog shampoo from Catalonia became the first in its category to receive the certification.
