It’s happening. The first fall colors are showing up in the higher elevations of the Rockies. Watch now to see when we can expect the color to spread to other parts of the country.

Recent weather patterns in the United States have led to early signs of fall foliage, especially in western mountain regions. Above-average summer temperatures were recorded in areas such as the Ohio Valley, Midwest, and interior New England, with the West Coast also experiencing lingering warmth. 

Mountain regions including the Cascades, Rockies, Colorado, and the White Mountains of Arizona are beginning to show fall colors, with some early changes noted in New Mexico as well. Drought conditions in the West may accelerate the onset of color, particularly around Denver and the Northern Tier, where noticeable changes are expected soon.

climatologically of how we fared in the summer of 2025. And a lot of us were above average, especially for some of these areas that are already starting to see the fall color pop. We also had a surge of warmth that hit us in the Ohio Valley, in the Midwest, even into the interior part of New England, where temperatures were above average by a couple degrees, when you look at the summer months here. Now, thankfully, we've really already hit our peak when it comes to the warmest part of the year. We still have the West Coast that technically can get it into late August, but now with this cool down coming in, you guys are gonna start to see signs of fall entering into your neck of the woods as well. So looking ahead, warm, sunny days, cool, crisp nights, all right, temperature staying above freezing, which is kind of what we've had the last couple of cold fronts, right? It's been very nice. Your high pressure building, so the nice, cool weather that we have in the morning hours right now will go bye-bye for a little bit. We've got that warmth surging back in, highs returning into the upper 80s and even mid 90s for some of us, but we've begun to already see some signs of change. Mountain areas, cascades, the Rockies down into Colorado, the White Mountains of Arizona, you've got a little bit of it in New Mexico, nothing really east of the continental divide at all. We'll see that down the pipeline. So when we look at drought, here we go. It's been very bad in the West. I don't like to see this, but it might enhance the color sooner rather than later for you. If we look at the overall forecast and what we can get into early next week, you could really see some of these areas already getting into high, like outside of Denver by the time we get into next week, and you're like, wow, that happened really fast, and that can happen. Also, we'll start to see the Northern Tier begin to show signs of fall in place, that's for sure.
