The Washington Monument gleams in the bright autumn sunshine, but it's closed. Tourists unable to ascend and experience the breathtaking views from the top. Federal tourist magnets like the free-to-enter Smithsonian museums stand shuttered, disappointing those who've travelled from as far away as India. We come all the way and then we find that we are not able to really see Washington DC. We booked our flight tickets like two and a half months back, and at that time also it was starting to shut down and we had some idea about it, but we thought that it would open up by now, but still it's closed, and I'm literally finding places to visit that are open. And DC is a traditional autumn destination for domestic tourists too. It's a shame, I mean, it's nice out, we were here and hoping to get into some of these museums, but instead we're going to ride a scooter around and make the most of it. And there's anger that the lawmakers who created this crisis still draw their salaries. All these other people are losing their money because of you, and you're still getting paid. It's absolutely ridiculous. The divide keeps getting bigger and bigger. Hopefully we'll find a way to make the divide smaller going forward, or we'll have more and more issues. But the solution appears obvious to a new generation of Americans. I really just think that we all need to come to agreement and stop fighting and be one nation. I think it's pretty sad that we can't come to agreement on both sides, like Republican and Democrat. It's a solution that their elders in Congress are still struggling to find.
