Super Typhoon Fung-wong struck the Philippines, making landfall with winds reaching up to 143 miles per hour and causing extensive flooding, landslides, and power outages. The storm displaced more than 1.4 million people and led to at least four reported deaths, though the toll was minimized by mass evacuations ordered by authorities.

This event follows closely after Typhoon Kalmagi, which killed over 200 people in the country. A state of emergency has been declared, and a thousand search and rescue teams have been deployed. The storm is now moving toward Taiwan, which is preparing for its impact.

We move our attention to Asia now, where the Philippines has been struck by yet another powerful typhoon. The latest storm made landfall over the weekend, unleashing fierce winds and heavy rain. Just look at this. And it displaced more than a million people. And all this comes just days after another typhoon killed more than 200 people in the country just last week. CBS News foreign correspondent Anna Karen is following developments for us from Hong Kong. Good morning, Anna. Just how dangerous is this latest storm, considering the region was just hit hard? Yeah, two typhoons in less than a week. It is quite extraordinary, Errol. But on Sunday night, Typhoon Phung Nguyen, it's locally known as Yuen, made landfall. It's the second major typhoon to strike the country following Typhoon Kalmagi, which left a trail of destruction. And you say killing more than 200 people. Last night, Phung Nguyen slammed into the main island of Luzon. It winds up to 143 miles per hour. And it was actually labelled a super typhoon. And this is the 21st storm to impact the Philippines this year. It triggered floods, landslides, it cut power to a number of provinces. Some towns remain completely cut off and at least four people have died. But, you know, compare that to last week and the death toll is quite minimal. And the reason for that is authorities issued mass evacuations ahead of the storm. Over 1.4 million people were evacuated. A state of emergency has been declared. A thousand search and rescue teams have been deployed. This storm now heading towards Taiwan and it of course is bracing for its impact, Daryl. All right, we'll continue to watch.
