Cheatle was questioned for over four hours regarding the breach, during which Trump was injured and a supporter was killed. The shooter, identified as 20-year-old Thomas Crooks, fired from a warehouse roof, unimpeded by security.

Despite video evidence from rally attendees showing the shooter before the incident, Cheatle admitted the Secret Service had no prior awareness of the threat. Criticism from both sides of the aisle emphasized the agency's failure, exemplified by the lack of a specific timeline for the events. Congressman Langworthy proposed a resolution urging President Joe Biden to remove Cheatle from her position. Cheatle has accepted responsibility and committed to preventing such failures in the future, though many committee members remain dissatisfied.

That is absolutely unacceptable. That means you're a failure at your job. Donald Trump was injured and one of his supporters was killed when 20-year-old Thomas Crooks opened fire from the roof of a warehouse less than 150 meters from the stage. Videos have surfaced from rally goers who saw the shooter on the roof. This was taken two minutes before the shooting started. He's on the roof. Was there ever a moment where the Secret Service actually considered pausing the rally? The Secret Service would have paused the rally had they known or been. So the answer is no. An actual threat. The answer is no. Trump says he would have postponed his speech if anyone had warned him. Nobody said there was a problem. Cheadle has accepted responsibility and vowed to get to the bottom of it. Finding the answers to how this event occurred and making sure that it doesn't happen again. We've asked for this information. But that didn't satisfy many on the committee.
