A violent incident at the Yokohama rubber plant in Mishima, Shizuoka, Japan, resulted in injuries to at least 15 people. The attack involved both stabbing and the use of a chemical spray, believed to be bleach. 

Police arrested a 38-year-old man at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder. Five of the stabbing victims are reported to be in serious but conscious condition. Emergency services responded quickly, and the motive for the attack remains unknown.

Fifteen people were injured in a knife and chemical spray attack at a rubber factory in central Japan on Friday. A 38-year-old man stabbed eight workers and sprayed seven others with what police believe was bleach at the Yokohama rubber plant in Mishima. Five of the stabbing victims are in serious condition but conscious. The attacker, wearing a gas mask and armed with a survival knife, was arrested on site for attempted murder. Security services sent ambulances and fire trucks to the facility, which employs nearly a thousand workers. No motive has been disclosed.

Israeli President Isaac Herzog said he was shocked by the "horrific killing spree" and pledged Israel would reinforce its security.
