The strikes were carried out as part of Operation Hawkeye Strike, initiated after two US soldiers and a civilian translator were killed by an ISIS gunman in central Syria.

Australian officials have expressed support for the US operation, which follows the first fatal attack on US troops since the fall of President Bashar al-Assad. US officials reiterated their commitment to retaliate against ISIS, while details regarding casualties and specific target locations were not disclosed.
