In response, the UN Security Council is holding an emergency meeting to address the situation. The tensions have also affected cultural events, with Australian-born singer Vassy withdrawing from Russia's Intervision Song Contest, reportedly under pressure from the Australian government. The situation underscores the broader impact of geopolitical tensions between Russia and Western countries.

Proof of that came just three days later, when Romanian fighter jets scrambled in response to a Russian drone near its border. Then on Friday, three Russian military jets violated Estonia's airspace for 12 minutes. And today, Germany claimed a Russian reconnaissance aircraft was detected in neutral airspace over the Baltic Sea. Two Eurofighter jets were deployed to track the plane that didn't respond to attempts of radio contact. It's very important that NATO shows unity amongst the membership because it's a very clear message to Putin that he cannot push the lines all the time. Tonight, the UN Security Council will meet for an emergency session to address the airspace violations as political tensions spill from the geopolitical sphere to the musical one. An Australian-born singer was due to represent the US at Russia's Intervision Song Contest, a Soviet-era competition that was revived after Moscow was booted from Eurovision. But she dropped out at the last minute. Organisers claim Vassy was pressured to withdraw by the Australian government.
