Perovy, aged 54, was known for his strong stance on Ukraine's sovereignty and his leadership during the Orange Revolution and Maidan protests. As police continue to search for the perpetrator, some Ukrainian lawmakers have suggested possible Russian involvement, though the investigation is ongoing.

The 54-year-old was a prominent figure in the pro-democracy Orange Revolution of 2004, as well as the Maidan protests a decade later. Which led to the ouster of Ukraine's pro-Russian president. He was among the leaders of the mass demonstrations who called for closer ties with the European Union. As police search for his assassin, many lawmakers in Ukraine are already pointing the finger at Russia.
