In the early hours of the morning, residents in Zaporizhia looked on in silence, taking in the scale of what happened overnight. Once again, this city in southeastern Ukraine was the target of deadly Russian strikes. More than 10 buildings hit, windows blown out. Officials say a combination of missiles and drones ripped through the area, cutting power for 25,000 residents. We were in the entrance hall when we heard the explosions. The whole building was covered in dust and filled with smoke. It was very frightening. People were calling for help from their windows. They were suffocating. The building was on fire. You're never prepared for something like that, you know. Further north in the Dnipro region, the same story. Missiles and drones hit homes and buildings. And in the capital, it was another long night underground. Kyiv's residents once more forced into basements and metro stations, taking shelter as Russian attacks rained down, just 48 hours after a deadly wave of bombings killed at least 25 people. President Volodymyr Zelensky says 14 regions across Ukraine were targeted overnight. Air Defence says it managed to shoot down most of the 600 drones and 45 missiles fired by Russia. This, as any hopes of renewed peace talks between the two countries drift further out of reach.

The United States says it will not allow Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to travel to New York next month for a United Nations gathering of world leaders, where several U.S. allies are set to recognise Palestine as a state.
