Wynne, who fled a military raid on his home, has alleged widespread fraud in the election that saw President Yoweri Museveni declared the winner.

Kainarugaba, who is Museveni's son, made additional threats against Wynne and his National Unity Platform party, claiming security forces had killed 22 party members. Despite these threats, police stated Wynne was not being sought. Meanwhile, at least 118 NUP members were charged with election-related offenses, though the party denied involvement in violence.

Kainarugaba said in reference to Wynne's National Unity Platform party, We have killed 22 NUP terrorists since last week. I'm praying the 23rd is Kabobi. Kainarugaba routinely makes inflammatory posts, including threatening to invade neighbouring Kenya in 2022. A police spokesperson said on Monday that Wynne was not being sought. After a tense campaign in which security forces repeatedly opened fire at Wynne's rallies, several incidents of post-election violence were reported. At least 118 NUP members were charged in court on Monday with election-related offences, court documents showed. The NUP denied party members were involved in violent activity.
