Two people are dead, and two others are injured, including the suspect, after a shooting Sunday afternoon in Mount Washington, Cincinnati police said.

A shooting in the Mount Washington neighborhood of Cincinnati resulted in two fatalities and left two more individuals, including the suspected shooter, in critical condition. Police responded to reports of gunfire at an apartment building and found evidence that the incident occurred both inside and outside the residence.

Authorities confirmed that the shooter attempted to take their own life and is among those critically injured. Investigators are still working to determine how the individuals involved are connected, and the community has been left shaken by the rare occurrence of such violence in the area.

We've never had anything like this happen in our neighborhood before. Investigators canvassed this scene near Beacon Street and Glade Avenue for hours on Sunday. Truly a tragedy today. The pain is very widespread. Their focus was on this apartment building. Police say officers responded to a call of shots fired here around 1 30 in the afternoon. I can say that this incident did occur both inside and outside of the residents. Police are still working to piece together how the shooting unfolded, but say two people are dead while two others, including the shooter, are being treated for critical injuries at U. C. Medical Center. We do know that the shooter shot himself in the time to take his own life. Police did not have any more information to share about the suspect or victims or how they may have known each other. We're trying to our teams are here trying to figure out what the relationships are. It's just too early to tell. Once the crime scene tape came down, we found the shattered window in shards of glass near the backside of the building. The first time I've seen crime on our neighborhood on our block, Brandon Reynolds lives near the scene. Well, I was folding laundry upstairs and then I heard some booms, which I thought was, you know, people practicing for tonight for the holiday. He says he heard gunshots go off before and after police arrived on the scene. I heard some more shots and I said, okay, this is getting pretty serious. But then I think it tapered off when our officers arrived. A few moments later, they observed four individuals being shot. Police are still investigating the incident that has left this quiet neighborhood rattled in Mount Washington. Connor Stefan WCPO nine news.
