The idea floated by Trump's team involves freezing the conflict along the current front line and potentially keeping Ukraine out of NATO. Despite the lack of clarity, Russian President Vladimir Putin has praised Trump for his courage and expressed willingness to discuss the conflict with a new administration in the U.S.

She will soon head to Kursk where Ukraine is fighting to hold Russian territory which it could hope to use as a bargaining chip. We hope that the situation will change for the better, she said. We want to believe in it but we can't influence the situation at that high level. Ukraine's president is praising Trump and his so-called peace through strength approach. While Trump has met with Volodymyr Zelensky recently in the past he's criticized him and the tens of billions of dollars in U.S. aid given to Ukraine which many Republicans want to see stopped.
