U.S. President Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed that he can end the ongoing war in Ukraine, but he has yet to provide detailed information on how he plans to achieve this goal. Trump initially suggested a quick resolution, claiming a deal could be reached within 24 hours. However, indications from his team suggest that a peace plan might realistically take around 100 days to implement.

The idea floated by Trump's team involves freezing the conflict along the current front line and potentially keeping Ukraine out of NATO. This proposal has not been detailed further, and there has been no clear strategy shared with the public. Despite the lack of clarity, Russian President Vladimir Putin has praised Trump for his courage and expressed willingness to discuss the conflict with a new administration in the U.S.

On the ground in Kiev, the effects of the war remain evident, with memorials growing for the more than 40,000 Ukrainian soldiers who have lost their lives. Ukrainian volunteers, like Irina Polischuk, continue to support the front lines, while hoping for a change in the situation. Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky has had recent discussions with Trump, although in the past, Trump has criticized Zelensky and the extensive U.S. financial aid provided to Ukraine.

It's another reminder of a war that ravages far from the front line. A war Donald Trump boasts he can somehow end. My proudest legacy will be that of a peacemaker and unifier. Initially he said a deal would be done in 24 hours but his special envoy suggests a peace plan could take 100 days. Do you think he could actually end the war? No, no. Maybe he believes he can but no. This war has two deep roots. Trump has given no details. His team has floated the idea of freezing the conflict along the current front line and keeping Ukraine out of NATO. Russia's president praised Trump's courage Monday and said he's open to discussing the Ukrainian conflict with the new administration. Back in Kiev a memorial for the more than 40,000 Ukrainian soldiers killed continues to grow. Irina Polischuk works as a volunteer running supplies to the front. She will soon head to Kursk where Ukraine is fighting to hold Russian territory which it could hope to use as a bargaining chip. We hope that the situation will change for the better, she said. We want to believe in it but we can't influence the situation at that high level. Ukraine's president is praising Trump and his so-called peace through strength approach. While Trump has met with Volodymyr Zelensky recently in the past he's criticized him and the tens of billions of dollars in U.S. aid given to Ukraine which many Republicans want to see stopped.
