The Nobel Committee is considering a range of candidates, including organizations aiding conflict victims and those defending press freedom, with the winner to be announced soon.

Remember the criteria as set out in Alfred Nobel's will. The award will be handed to whoever has done most for the fraternity of nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies, or for the promotion or holding of peace. It's often given a wide interpretation, and tips for this year's prize include Sudan's Emergency Response Rooms, a community-led network providing vital aid to victims of that conflict. Global media repression points some towards the Committee to Protect Journalists. The prize may also honour individuals or institutions fighting climate change or upholding international law.
