Invest 93L, the easternmost wave, will likely develop into a tropical depression or tropical storm later today or Thursday. Invest 94L is the another wave we are concerned about that could track closer to the Southeast U.S. This wave will first bring gusty winds and heavy rain to Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands the next few days.

Meteorologists are monitoring two tropical disturbances in the Atlantic, designated 93L and 94L, both with high probabilities of developing into named storms. The first system, likely to become Humberto, has a 90% chance of development and is expected by most models to remain out at sea, although one model suggests a possible merger with the other system. The second system, 94L, has an 80% chance of development and is already affecting the Lesser Antilles with showers and thunderstorms. While current conditions are not ideal for rapid development, the system is expected to move into a more favorable environment. Forecast models indicate that 94L could approach the southeast coast, with its exact path and potential impacts still uncertain due to interactions with an upper-level trough.

I'm more focused on 94L, but it could be interactive in 93L at the same time. So there's a lot going on. Let's explain it. So this is a system we really want to pay attention to. This is a system that is going to interact a little bit with this. They play around with each other. And if you believe the GFS, then this one totally ingests that one. But let's just get to the facts that we have right now. So there is a 90% chance of this developing as we head over the next several days. It does look like this could become Umberto, which will be our next name system. Imelda is the next name after that. But it looks like this is going to stay, if you believe all the models except for the GFS, this will stay out to sea and go around the periphery of our high pressure. This system, however, with an 80% chance of development, 94L, this is bringing clouds and showers already to the islands, the Lesser Antilles. We saw that yesterday. We're seeing it again today. It's not as intense today, which is good, but we do have some stronger thunderstorms. A lot of it's offshore actually right now. It's dancing with some dry air. We've got shear on the north side of the system. So conditions are not conducive for development of this system, but it does look like it moves into an atmosphere that becomes more conducive. Now, as it does that, the question is, what is the interaction with the trough that we have coming off the east coast? So we have this upper mid to upper level energy that is swinging east today. That's causing all of our thunderstorms today, tomorrow and Friday. And as we get into the weekend, this is expected to be off the southeast coast. Now, right now, the models are having it come really close to the coast and then getting pulled out to sea. And I'm talking really close to the coast where you'll still feel the impacts from this system. So that's the big question is, how much of a tug does 93L have on this? What is the timing of the trough? Is it all going to time out? Notice how we have our models coming right off the southeast coast.
