Health officials are expressing concern as the region enters peak mosquito season and are advising the public on ways to reduce risk, such as maintaining trimmed grass, using window and door screens, wearing protective clothing, and applying insect repellent. In the previous year, Utah recorded 14 cases of West Nile virus, 12 of which developed into the severe neuroinvasive form of the disease.

Make sure you have screens on your windows and doors. Make sure you wear light colored baggy clothing, long sleeves, wear your repellents. Be mindful of fact that the mosquitoes also come out when the weather is nice. In 2024, there were 14 cases of West Nile in Utah, with 12 resulting in the severe neuro invasive form of the disease.
