Much of the central and southern United States is expected to experience unseasonably warm temperatures during the Christmas holiday, with cities such as St. Louis, Kansas City, Wichita, Oklahoma City, Dallas, and Atlanta forecasted to approach or surpass previous record highs. This warmth will significantly limit snow cover, making a white Christmas unlikely for most areas south of I-80, with the best chances for snow remaining in the far northern regions and the Great Lakes area.

Specific forecasts include St. Louis reaching 69°F, Kansas City 69°F, Wichita 73°F, Oklahoma City 78°F, Dallas 78°F, and Atlanta 75°F, with several of these figures set to tie or break historical records. While some snow is expected in southern New England before Christmas, melting is likely to prevent significant accumulation by the holiday.

but we have a very warm christmas week for many in the south central, the central plains and also into parts of the southeast. Atlanta is going to be nosing into near record highs on thursday christmas day as well. Unseasonable warmth for many in the central U. S. That's going to obviously restrict the snow cover and the areas that will see a full inch of snow on the ground on christmas day. The white christmas to parts of areas maybe mainly north of I 80 and really high, high probability north of I 90 areas like the Great Lakes region and the northern most parts of the plains in the upper midwest. Farther south, we're going to see a little snow tonight into early Tuesday in southern New England. But will we see a full inch on the ground still on christmas day after a little melting? Maybe not. We will see some significant snow in some of these areas then on the day after christmas, but that's a day too late. So christmas day we have lots of warmth in the plains and across the south. And again, a pretty good contrast in air masses from the Great Lakes area to the warmth ST louis. Look at this. We're forecasting 69 degrees. That would be the third warmest christmas on record in ST louis. The record high for christmas day is 71 from 18 89. Probably not going to get quite that warm, but will be a top three warmest christmas there. Kansas City 69 degrees. That would be the record warmest in Kansas City, three degrees above or two degrees above the previous record from 103 years ago in Wichita 73. That would smash the record and climb to the warmest christmas on record there. And we're doing a similar thing in Oklahoma City 78. That would smash the record high by five degrees. So your official Accuweather forecast very warm Dallas 78. That would be a tie for third warmest christmas on record with two other years. So a lot of warmth is coming and we'll close with look at Atlanta. We're making a run for the record high at 75. Mhm.
