Summer season is also mosquito season and some cities see more of the biting pests than others.  So every year, the pest control company Orkin releases its list of the biggest mosquito hotspots, based on where they’re getting the most calls for mosquito treatment. The cities making their top 5 in 2025 might surprise you.

Los Angeles remains the leading city for mosquito activity for the fourth consecutive year, despite local efforts to curb the population by releasing sterile mosquitoes. Chicago, New York, Atlanta, and Detroit also feature in the top five, with Detroit making its debut on the list, possibly due to a warmer and wetter spring.

The report notes that New York experienced the presence of West Nile virus-carrying mosquitoes across all five boroughs in the previous year. The findings underscore the importance of mosquito control and prevention measures in these urban areas during the summer season.
